A Real Feminist Weighs In by Julie Plancarte
I love political science and keep up on political affairs. I have an interest in politics, and have been following elections for years. Due to the wide open presidential race going on this year, my interest has been raised even more. I’ve been watching the drama for weeks now, curious to see how it all turns out.
I’m writing this article in response to the hoopla that’s been raised by Hillary Clinton’s bid for president. People defend her and say that she’s being mistreated because she’s a woman. So as a woman, I’d like to respond.
First of all, let me say that I welcome the idea of a qualified woman in public office. If a woman is the best candidate for president, then she’s got my vote. Hillary is not that woman.
There is a record from the beginning on both Bill and Hillary Clinton. They lack scruples when it comes to getting into power. They’ll say and do whatever is necessary to get what they want.
Let’s not forget that this is a woman that contracted a marriage which has proven to more of a business arrangement than a loving relationship. This is a woman that from a young age felt a sense of entitlement, and in the coldest way possible went after what she wanted. To say that Hillary has not planned for this moment down to the smallest detail is a joke.
There are a number of articles I’ve read that have defended Hillary. These were written by the so-called ‘feminists’ of the media. Liberal minded women that are convinced that Hillary is a powerful woman with goals, who is being picked on by the evil men of Washington that want to keep the female gender in the kitchen.
To all of these misguided members of the press, let’s get real. Hillary’s record speaks for itself. The shady campaign contributions, the questionable ties to the Chinese, the whole Whitewater investigation and various deals that were made when the Clintons were in Arkansas, the outright theft of pieces of furniture and historical antiques that the Clintons removed from the White House and had to be asked to ‘return’.
I am a woman that lives in reality. Unlike Hillary, I work hard and try my best to raise my kids right. Should I feel mercy for someone who has used such crooked means to get what she wants. Shouldn’t the same standard that I apply to a man running for President apply to Hillary? Bad is bad, regardless of gender, race, or religion.
Hillary just won New Hampshire and there’s debate on her “breakdown”. I don’t care if her tears were real. That’s not really the point. Her actions speak for themselves.
Let’s stop making exceptions to the rules. Let’s stop making excuses when bad decisions are made. A line should be drawn in the sand and not crossed.
Many politicians flip flop on issues over time and even during a campaign. They will change their positions based on polls. They’ll position themselves to run for higher office when the opportunity presents itself. In the case of Hillary, she goes way beyond this.
If I could wave a magic wand, I would inject a little more honesty into this election process, but I doubt that will happen. This is America after all, and the three ring circus that occurs each election has been around a long time. The finger pointing and outright whining are the name of the game, and the person that manipulates things right wins. Let’s just hope that we, as the American people can live with who we get.
