The Signs Of Spring Are Everywhere

The first flowers to herald the approaching Spring are the Crocus. These tiny flowers push their way up, often through ground that is still crunchy with snow, and trumpet the arriving change of the season.

I always look for these little fellows for they tell me soon the snow and ice will once again be replaced by warmer days. The scattered purple flowers seem to lead the way into a new chapter of life. It signals that a new beginning is soon to arrive. Wake up, and smell the flowers! It tells us to begin planning what we want to do, and where we want to go.

I always take this time, just before those warm days arrive to ask myself what I want to do before the end of Summer. I mark up my calendar and plan out the things I need to do to get the garden in order, and the patio prepared for enjoying during the warmer days. I clean out the bird houses, and begin looking forward to fun outdoor activities.

This is a time that allows you to reflect upon how you felt about last year. Did you get to do the things you’d anticipated? Do you feel optimistic about life? Do you feel that you are still growing, and becoming a better person? This is not something that disappears once you hit fifty. I remind myself that life is filled with possibilities, and opportunities. I can take advantage of what time I have, if I choose. I tell myself that only one thing is certain about time, you use or you loose it. You can’t hoard it away for some future activity. It is only here now.

I hope that the sight of those early Spring Crocus will jar you into developing a plan to get the most out of the coming Spring and Summer months. Enjoy yourself, and smile. Until later...Colleen
